Our Work

Alianza Agrícola is a worker-founded, worker-led organization of undocumented immigrant farmworkers based in Western and Central New York. Since its founding in April 2016, it has become the only organized group of undocumented immigrant dairy farmworkers in the state. The organization is dedicated to empowering its members to advocate for their rights and improve their living and working conditions through leadership development, policy advocacy, and community organizing. Alianza Agrícola played a key role in winning two major legislative victories in 2019: the Driver’s License Access and Privacy Act, which granted access to driver’s licenses for all undocumented residents in New York, and the Farm Laborers Fair Labor Practices Act, which secured collective bargaining rights, a day of rest, and overtime pay for farmworkers. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the group mobilized to address the urgent and long-term needs of immigrant farmworkers, reinforcing their belief that “workers are essential, not disposable.” In 2024, with the support of a $50,000 grant, Alianza Agrícola purchased a vehicle to help members attend community gatherings, medical appointments, DMV visits, and advocacy events, strengthening the group’s mobility and mutual support.
